Professional Experience

Foto: Dr. Oliver SchmidtMy taxation skills set is something that I have acquired during my professional training at the Revenue and Customs Office of Hamburg as a tax inspector, and as a graduate in field of finance. After a subsequent degree in Business Administration and a doctoral thesis, I worked for various international tax consulting companies. In 2000, I was appointed as a tax consultant ("Steuerberater"). A focus of my consulting activities was (and still is) cross-border employee assignments ("Expatriates").

Since 2013 I have provided advisory services with my own practice mainly to medium-size companies and individuals, as well as with regard to all matters relating to the taxation of expatriate assignments. In this last area I provide training during seminar courses, both for the Chamber of Tax Advisors and the Revenue and Customs Office. I also contribute regularly in publications regarding taxation issues in overseas assignments.

In addition to my tax advisory work, I have been active for many years in training and teaching. I teach as a lecturer for tax law and accounting at various universities. Moreover, I also provide seminar training at the Federal Chamber of Tax Consultants and the Federal Finance Academy.
